In polyuria, fluid of at least 2.5–3.0 L/day is excreted with the urine output going up to more than 40 mL/kg/day.
Polyuria usually is associated with polydipsia, which results in an excessive water intake. A water intake of more than 100 mL/kg/day (6 L/day) is termed as polydipsia
